Weekday Preschool

Wallula Christian Preschool (WCP) is a licensed preschool program that provides a nurturing environment combined with a Bible-based curriculum which emphasizes God's role in the world around us while preparing children for kindergarten. The program provides children the following abilities:

• Kindergarten readiness skills
• Interests in the world around them
• Skills for work and play with other children
• Communication skills to express feelings and ideas in a Christ-like fashion
• Creative expression through art, music, language and dramatic play

WCP is housed within Wallula Christian Church, which affords us the opportunity to keep class sizes to <=12 students with one lead teacher and the director floating between the two classes, as needed. We are fortunate to have this beautiful, safe facility for our students to learn more about God while growing their social, emotional and educational base. We encourage families to schedule a tour. WCP's goal is to have families excited and comfortable with their preschool choice because this is the foundation of your child's school career. This is when kids begin falling in love with school...and Jesus!

As a Christian preschool, the focus is on incorporating God into our conversations, actions and lessons. Each week there is a new Bible story for the students to learn. To help students understand the story, we will teach it different ways such as reading from the bible, acting it out or even letting the students tell the story. Additionally, about every month there will be a new verse we are working to memorize as a class. We use a letter-based curriculum to plan our academic lessons, which means we use the week's letter to link the ideas, activities and crafts taught.

Through the school year, students will have at least one week to focus on each letter, 0-20, 10 colors and 10 shapes. After that introduction week, the information will be incorporated in cumulative reviews often. Realizing the attention span of preschoolers is short, we work to have each activity last no more than 15-20 minutes. At the beginning of the year, this will be a challenge, however by the end of the year, the students are ready for much longer activities.

Students must be the age of the class you wish to enroll in on or before August 31st and be self sufficient in the bathroom. Our school year starts in late August and wraps up by mid-May. For inclement weather, we follow USD469 Lansing cancellations. Thank you for taking time to learn about WCP!
